Baby Turk back in the Festival spotlight

THE spotlight fell back on sire Baby Turk, who rose to prominence when his son Azertyuiop was, alongside Moscow Flyer and Well Chief, one of a vintage band of 2m chasers, when Baby Run made most of the running to win the Christie's Foxhunter Chase Challenge Cup.

Baby Turk, a high-class middle-distance performer for Alain de Royer-Dupre, carved out a fine reputation as a jumps sire with his other progeny including Grade 1 Maghull Novices' Chase winner Armaturk and high-class French-trained chaser Urga.

Baby Run, bred by Haras des Preaux and sold by Mill House Stud for 32,000gns at Doncaster in May 2003, is out of the Lesotho mare Run For Laborie.

He made the score 14-9 to Irish-bred winners over their French counterparts at the Festival.
