Granddaughter of Fall Aspen becomes 12th winner for Haafhd

SHEIKH Hamdan's Awfeyaa showed a good turn of foot in division two of the 7f maiden at Lingfield on Wednesday to become Haafhd's 12th winner of the British and Irish campaign.

The hombred filly shot up the rail to deny Dubawi's three-parts sister Suba by one and a half lengths.

Awfeyaa is the third winner out of the winning Woodman mare Aspen Leaves following the Listed-placed Agenda (Sadler's Wells) and Deira Dubai (Green Desert).

A daughter of the legendary mare Fall Aspen, Aspen Leaves is a sister to the Preakness Stakes winner and sire Timber Country and a half-sister to the Group winning-colts Hamas, Fort Wood, Bianconi and Mazzacano.

Fall Aspen also produced a host of accomplished fillies, namelyNorthern Aspen, Elle Seule (dam of Mehthaaf and Elnadim) and Colorado Dancer (dam of Dubai Millennium). Another filly, the unraced Dance Of Leaves, produced the high-class pair Medaaly and Charnwood Forest.

Aspen Leaves has a yearlingfilly by Green Desert named Atyaab and colt foal by Haafhd.
