Sire revelation Awesome Of Course to Florida

AWESOME OF COURSE, who shot to fame from relative obscurity when his daughter Awesome Feather extended her unbeaten record in Friday's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies, is being transferred to a higher profile stud in 2011.

The 10-year-old son of Awesome Again will stand at Brent and Crystal Fernung’s Journeyman Stud in Florida at a fee of $5,000.

Awesome Of Course - who stood the 2010 season at Legend Farm in Oklahoma at a fee of just $1,750 - has compiled a good record from limited opportunities.

From just 26 named foals, he has 20 starters, 15 winners and four stakes horses, headed by Awesome Feather, who was sold to Awesome Again's owner-breeder Franch Stronach for $2.3 million at Sunday's Fasig-Tipton November sale.

Awesome Of Course's pedigree outshines his racing record of three minor stakes wins: he is out of the Group 3-placed Lyphard mare Mais Oui and his third dam was 21-time winner and US champion mare Straight Deal.

Brent Fernung said: "We are delighted to welcome Awesome Of Course to the Journeyman stallion roster. He’s from the first crop by Awesome Again, and we have followed his career, from his stakes victory at two to his multiple stakes wins at three.

"He sired a pretty good stakes winner in his first crop, Honey Honey Honey. But Awesome Feather is in another league altogether, and her sale price proves he can be commercial as well. We expect he'll draw plenty of interest from breeders."
