Ave is Japan bound after selling for $1.4 million

Grade 1 winner Ave became the top lot of the opening session of Keeneland’s January horses of all ages sale when she sold to Teruya Yoshida's  Shadai Farm for $1.4 million.

The now five-year-old Danehill Dancer mare won the 2010 Flower Bowl Invitational Stakes to land the biggest victory of her racing career. She was offered as a racing or broodmare prospect by Three Chimney’s Farm, agent, but has officially been retired.

“It was a strong price but it makes sense,” said Three Chimney’s president, Case Clay. “She hasan incredible European pedigree.  She’s a very international mare.”
