Atrea tops Keeneland Saturday at $435,000

ATREA, a five-year-old Storm Cat mare out of the Capote mare New Dice and from the family of Grade 1 winners Girolamo and Super Saver, topped Saturday’s session of the Keeneland November Breeding-Stock Sale.

In foal to Flatter, she sold for $435,000 to Glen Hill Farm. She was consigned by Lane’s End, as agent.

Sekmet, a sister to Juddmonte Spinster Stakes winner In Lingerie, commanded the day’s second-highest price, selling for $310,000 to Benjamin Leon’s Besilu Stables. She was consigned by Winter Quarter Farm, as agent.

Keeneland realized an increase in the median price on Saturday. The median of $35,000 rose by nine per cent from $32,000 in 2011, while the average decreased ten per cent from $47,507 to $42,576.

So far at this yea'r sale, a total of 937 horses have been sold for $113,846,600, for an average of $121,501 and a median of $60,000.

During the comparable period in 2011, 1,073 horses were sold for $180,311,200, for an average of $168,044 and a median of $77,000.
