Superstar Frankel heads 12 for Royal Ascot opener
FRANKEL, the highest-rated horse on the planet, will face a maximum of 11 rivals in Tuesday's Queen Anne Stakes, the opening race of Royal Ascot.
Khalid Abdullah's star will be bidding to stretch his unbeaten record to 11 in the mile contest and headed 12 confirmations for the race on Wednesday.
Stablemate and three-parts brother Bullet Train, who has been seen to good effect as pacemaker for Frankel on his last two starts, again features and looks likely to ensure a strong gallop.
Old foe Excelebration, runner-up to Frankel on his last two starts, again looks likely to challenge and spearheads three entires from Aidan O'Brien, who also has So You Think and Windsor Palace among his trio, although So You Think has the Prince Of Wales's Stakes as an alternative option.
Strong Suit, a winner at Royal Ascot in the previous two seasons, looks set to make his seasonal debut in the race for Richard Hannon.
Helmet, three times a Group 1 winner for Peter Snowden in Australia, could make his British debut for trainer Mahmood Al Zarooni. Last seen when disappointing in the UAE Derby at Meydan at the end of March, Helmet was successful on six of his nine starts last year.
German star Indomito could also make the line-up, along with the Charlie Hills-trained Red Jazz and recent Epsom scorer Side Glance.
The most notable absentee was Cityscape, who finished third to Canford Cliffs in the race last year and won the Dubai Duty Free in March.
