Marquetry is latest Old Friends entrant

PENSIONED stallion Marquetry has been relocated to Old Friends' Dream Chase Farm in Kentucky.

Old Friends is a retirement facility for thoroughbred racehorses, especially stallions, founded by Michael Blowen. Prix Ganay scorer Creator and Grade 1 winner Ogygian are among the operation's other residents.

Marquetry, a 23-year-old son of Conquistador Cielo, won three Grade 1 races, including the Hollywood Gold Cup, during his career on the track.

Originally retired to Vinery in Kentucky, his stud record features two Breeders' Cup Sprintheroes and champion sprinters - Artax and Squirtle Squirt.

Earlier this year he was pensioned from the breeding shed at Stonwall Farm in Ocala, Florida, due to declining fertility, after covering 38 mares.
