Top sire Hussonet will switch to Lindsay Park

TOP stallion Hussonet, a son of Mr Prospector,  will switch from  Arrowfield to Lindsay Park Stud for this year's southern hemisphere breeding season.

Arrowfield chairman John Messara and Lindsay Park Stud managing director Sam Hayes have negotiated a deal that will see the  sire spend the remainder of his career at the Barossa Valley stud. "Standing a champion stallion is a privilege that we will not take for granted and I am confident that breeders will not take it for granted either. This is a real coup,” Hayes said.

The sire of 28 Group 1 winners, Hussonet enjoyed a remarkable 2007/08 season in Australia that included Racehorse of the Year Weekend Hussler and Blue Diamond winner Reaan.

As a result, he attracted some exciting mares such as Miss Finland, Alinghi, Tycoon Lil, Lotteria along with the dams of Redoute's Choice, Not A Single Doubt and Reaan.  "Given the books of mares he has covered in recent seasons there is substantial upside for breeders going to him in 2011 and beyond,” Hayes said.

This season Hussonet's stakes performers include  Group 1 Oakleigh Plate winner Eagle Falls and Caulfield Guineas and Thousand Guineas runners-up Run For Levi and Heartsareforlove.

At Lindsay Park Stud he will stand alongside  Good Journey, Reaan, Barely a Moment, De Beers and fellow newcomer Shrewd Rhythm. His fee will be Aus$25,000 (£16,123/€18,258).

Commenting on the move,  Arrowfield's John Messara said Hussonet would offer significant outcrossopportunities at his new base. "Hussonet has been a great success story for us and we are delighted to place him in young, enthusiastic hands for the next phase of his career," he said.
