Arravale bought in by vendor for 1,050,000gns

THE second session of the Tattersalls December breeding stock sale got off to a flying start this morning with aflurry of six-figure purchases.

The highest price on the boards so far today was 1,050,000gns, for 2006 E P Taylor Stakes heroine Arravale. But the price was not enough for the daughter of Arch to change hands, and she was bought in by her vendor Ballylinch Stud.

That left Dance The Classics the most expensive horse to find a new home in the morning exchanges.

Newtown Stud consigned the five-year-old daughter of Sadler's Wells and Princess RoyalStakes heroine Head In The Clouds, who hails from the illustrious family of Millenary and Conduit, and Katsumi Yoshida of Northern Farms in Japan was the winning bidder at 380,000gns.

Head In The Clouds is carrying a Dalakhani cover, so the resultant foal will be bred on the celebrated Darshaan/Sadler's Wells cross.

An addition to Sea The Stars' first book of mares next spring was confirmed when John Clarke, who manages the Derby and Arc winner's stud career for his owners the Tsui Family, purchased Speed Song, a winning daughter of Fasliyev and Superstar Leo. The four-year-old, who is in foal to Pivotal, sold for 270,000gns.

Earlier in the day Blandford Bloodstock went to 200,000gns to secure Roo, the dam of last year's Prix Morny runner-up Gallagher, who is back in foal to Gallagher's sire Bahamian Bounty. The National Stud consigned.
