Arqana February catalogue released

A SELECTION of 13 lots forming part of the dispersal of Madame Sylvia Wildenstein are one of the highlights of a 313-strong catalogue for the Arqana February Mixed Sale on February 13.

The Sylvie Wildenstein dispersal, which features horses descending from her great matriarch Neomenie including the Prix Wild Monarch heroine Nickelle, is set to open the sale, which returns to Deauville after two year break due to redevelopment of the sales complex.

Aside from the Wildenstein dispersal, catalogue highlights include Ardere, the dam of Prix Miesque winner Stefer who is in foal to Siyouni; Linamox, a Linamix half sister to Group 1 winner Lune D'Or; and Listed winners Super Motiva and Phone The Diva, who are in foal to Dylan Thomas and Astronomer Royal.

Heading the jumps mares on offer is Equipiere, a half sister to the high-class jumper Kap Dream who is in foal to Kapgarde, and Grade 3 winner Kruscyna, who is in foal to Policy Maker.

Group 3-placed Whipper filly Miss Fifty and the Listed-placed pair Fly The Stars and Alchimia are among the 63 horses in training.

Last year's renewal suffered declines across-the-board with 165 horses selling for a total of €943,500, down 16 per cent from 2010, and average of €5,718, down 36 per cent from 2010. The day was topped by the €67,000 saleof the Linamix filly Blowaway to the Broadhurst Agency.
