Arqana extends October yearling sale by a day

ARQANA has extended its October yearling sale to four days and split it into two parts.

The auction, originally scheduled to take place from Monday, October 18, to Wednesday, October 20, will now feature an extra short session on the Thursday.

Arqana is compiling a catalogue of 550 yearlings for this year's auction, up from 515 in 2009.

The Monday and Tuesday sessions will begin at 4pm local time and feature 135 lots each; on Wednesday 200 lots will be offered in a session starting at 11am local time and on Thursday an extra 80 will go through the ring beginning at 10am local time.

Arqana president Eric Hoyeau said: "Our buyers' comfort is a constant worry and we do our utmost to ensure that they see the horses in the best possible conditions.

"In October, when daylight hours are scarce, it is paramount to accommodate sufficient viewing time so that all yearlings get the chance to show their potential.

"This concern had already inspired our decision to change theformat of the sale by creating a Part 1 and a Part 2, with shorter and later sessions."
