THE Arqana Breeze-Up Sale at Saint-Cloud will be held on May 9 next year, three weeks later than its traditional date.
The move means that the sale will coincide with the French Guineas meeting at Longchamp while distancing itself from other breeze-up auctions on the calendar, therefore easing the logistics for vendors who may have consignments at other sales.
"We have taken into account the opinions voiced by vendors and buyers at this sale through a survey conducted after the 2008 renewal," said Eric Hoyeau, president of Arqana.
"Furthermore, the evolution of the market for two-year-olds in training and our experience of it has convinced us that a later date, linked to a race meeting of international significance, would lead to improvement in the quality and consistence of the offer as well as attract a wider buyer bench." The sale's closing date is December 15.
