Arqana Arc Sale: Mutin commands €700,000

Lot 20: unbeaten two-year-old wild card entry Mutin lit up the sales ring when selling to Hubie de Burgh for €700,000 on behalf of an undisclosed client.

A son of Kentucky Dynamite, whose oldest progeny are three, the colt is the second foal of Listed placed Mytographie, who hails from the family of this year's Nell Gwynn winner Esentepe.

Entered to run in the Group 3 Prix Thomas Byron at Saint-Cloud next Thursday for Criquette Head-Maarek, the colt most recently took a conditions race over the course and distance last month on his second start.

"He is for an established client," Burgh said, before adding, "I am really impressed by him and he will make a lovely three year old, and hopefully a French Derby prospect. It hasn't been decided if he'll stay in France."

Lot 6: 3 winner Cay Verde, due to run in tomorrow's Qatar Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp, is set to continue his career in Hong Kong next year after selling to Marie Yoshida for €320,000 at Arqana on Saturday evening.

Bidding on behalf of Howard Liang, the French agent had the final say for the son of Bahamian Bounty, who took the Prix d'Arenburg in September having finished third in both the Richmond and Gimcrack Stakes.

Offered from Mick Channon on behalf of Qatar Racing, Cay Verde is the only two year old in the five furlong sprint on Sunday, and has a handy 6.5kg weight advantage over his elders. He hails from the close family of Prix Maurice de Gheest winner Bold Edge.

Yoshida paid a similar price for Listed placed Cool Dude at the sale last year, and signed for Prix Morny runner up Family One on behalf of Liang in December.
