Arctic Tack to stand Montjeu brother Le Fou
JUST a few weeks after it was announced that Gold Well was to leave Arctic Tack Stud in County Wexford to join the ranks of Coolmore National Hunt stallions, Arctic Tack has acquired his half-brother Le Fou from France.
Le Fou, a 13-year-old son of Polish Precedent, and Gold Well are out of the Top Ville mare Floripedes.
Another brother is Montjeu, the outstanding middle-distance performer and sire who died in March.
Both Gold Well and Montjeu have established themselves as rich sources of jumps talent. Gold Well's early crops include the smart pair Holywell and Joxer, while Montjeu has supplied stars such as Hurricane Fly and Noble Prince.
Le Fou stood this year at the Haras du Hoguenet and his oldest crop are five-year-olds. His best performers are the high-class French jumpers Carlain and Urbain De Sivola, and Cedre Bleu, a dual winner for Paul Nicholls who is a leading fancy for the Sportingbet Handicap Chase at Newbury on Thursday.
Le Fou, a winner over 1m-1m2f and second in the Group 3 Prix la Force, will stand at Arctic Tack alongside Arcadio. Both will command a fee of €2,000.
