July juvenile stakes double for Oasis Dream

A SECOND 2010 Guineas fancy within 24 hours came the way of Oasis Dream on Thursday when Arcano showed a smart turn of foot to run down Orpen Grey to take the July Stakes at Newmarket.

The opening day of the July meeting on Wednesday saw Misheer earn a quote of 12-1 for next year's 1,000 Guineas after romping away with the Cherry Hinton Stakes. Although Arcano's win was not so clear cut, his authority was never in doubt and the front pair drew well clear.

The Brian Meehan-trained colt, who cost 90,000gns at last year's Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Sale, is one of nine individual stakes winners this season by Oasis Dream, who registered his most memorable success at the 2003 July meeting in the July Cup.

As well as Arcano and Misheer, Oasis Dream is the sire of this season's Oaks runner-up Midday and Group 3 winner Main Aim. The son of Green Desert stands at Banstead Manor Stud in Newmarket for £30,000.

Bred by the Yellow Bird Syndicate, Arcano is the first foal out of Tariysha, an unraced Darshaan daughter of Irish 1,000 Guineas third Tarwiya.
