Another smart prospect for top-class mare Alidiva

OUTSTANDING broodmare Alidiva could be represented in the months to come by yet another smart runner in Divalarious, her three-year-old filly by Distorted Humor who broke her maiden over 1m 1/2f on turf at Belmont on Thursday.

It was only the second start for Divalarious, who is trained by Chad Brown, following her third placed debut effort at Keeneland last month. Settled in fourth this time around, the Charlie Wacker-homebred made up steady ground to challenge the leaders and kick clear to score by an easy three-and-a-quarter lengths.

Divalarious is the 12th foal and ninth winner out of Alidiva, winner of 1990 Listed Oak Tree Stakes at Goodwood. The 24-year-old daughter of Chief Singer is the damof four stakes winners, namely multiple Group 1 winner Taipan, Sussex Stakes winner Ali-Royal, 1,000 Guineas heroine Sleepytime (later the dam of Group 3 winner Gentlemen's Deal) and Grade 2 scorer Oonagh McCool.

Another daughter, Sometime, is the dam of Group 3 winne Art Deco.

Alidiva has a two-year-old filly by Giant's Causeway named Albanka. A sister to Oonagh McCool, she was purchased for $350,000 by Charlie Gordon-Watson on behalf of Hesmonds Stud owner NurlanBizakov and is in training with Sir Michael Stoute.

The mare also has a yearling colt by Giant's Causeway.
