EUROPA POINT (5 m Rock Of Gibraltar - Gorband by Woodman)

Bred by Tom Molan and Westbury Bloodstock in Ireland

HARBOUR Watch's enforced absence hasn't prevented his dam Gorband from tasting Group 1 success this year. Earlier this month, her five-year-old daughter Europa Point graduated to the highest level with victory in the Group 1 L. Jaffee Empress Club Stakes at Turffontein and struck again on Saturday when successful in the President's Champion Challenge at the same track.

Europa Point, who is trained by Mike de Kock on behalf of Wilgersbosdrift, is one of eight Group/Grade 1 winners by Coolmore's brilliant miler Rock Of Gibraltar. The son of Danehill is standing the current season for €17,500.

Europa Point and Harbour Watch, last year's unbeaten Richmond Stakes winner, are two of the first four foals out of the placed Gorband. The daughter of Woodman hails from an exceptional family as a half-sister to dual French Group 2 winner Kabool and granddaughter of blue hen Fall Aspen.

Fall Aspen produced 13 winners during her long stud career including Northern Aspen (Gamely Handicap), Hamas (July Cup), Fort Wood (Grand Prix de Paris) and Timber Country (Preakness Stakes and Breeders' Cup Juvenile; by Woodman and thus bred along similar lines to Gorband). Today, the daughter of Pretense appears in the background of 29 stakes winners including Dubai Millennium, Mehthaaf and Elnadim.

A 55,000gns Tattersalls foal purchase by Willie Musson, Europa Point was sold to the South African-based Form Bloodstock for 60,000gns at the 2008 Tattersalls October yearlingsale.
