Amadeus Wolf's first foal on the ground

THE first foal by 2005 Middle Park Stakes winner Amadeus Wolf was born at the Irish National Stud last night.

The new arrival is a bay filly out of the winning Unblest mare No Tippling, who is owned by Duncan McGregor. Julie Lynch, stallions nomination manager at the stud, described the foal as "a lovely type with plenty of size and strength".

A member of the only crop sired by the outstanding sprinter Mozart, Amadeus Wolf was a top-class two-year-old, winning the Gimcrack Stakes as well as the Middle Park Stakes.

At three he finished placed in three Group1 races: the Prix Maurice de Gheest, the Nunthorpe Stakes and the Betfred Sprint Cup. In the next season he won the Group 2 Duke of York Stakes.

He retired to the Irish National Stud last year at a fee of €10,000 and in his first season he covered 140 mares. He will stand at a fee of €8,000 for the 2009 breeding season.
