Lawman: represented by Sans Loi in the July Stakes

Three first-crop sires with July Stakes runners

THREE first-season sires bid for a first Group winner in today's TNT July Stakes at Newmarket.

The John Fretwell-owned Church Music is by Amadeus Wolf and won his only start in a York maiden. Bred by Ellen Lyons, he is the eighth foal of the College Chapel mare Cappella and cost £42,000 as a yearling from the DBS Premier Yearling sale.

Lawman is represented by Sans Loi, a sale-topping £100,000 from the inaugural Brightwells breeze-up at Ascot in May. His dam, the Royal Academy mare Lady Elysees, has had three other runners including a winner, Gojeri by Choisir, who took a 1m handicap at Leicester.

The Tom Dascombe-trained Kenny Powers bids to lose his maiden tag, having finished fourth and third in a maiden and a conditions race to date. He is by Vital Equine, who has produced two winners in Britain and two in France.
