First black-type win for Tale Of The Cat filly
ALPHA KITTEN, a lightly-raced daughter of Tale Of The Cat, claimed her first black-type success when she won the Grade 2 Santa Ynez Stakes on the Pro-Ride surface at Santa Anita yesterday.
Bred and owned by Ann and Jerry Moss, and trained by John Sadler, Alpha Kitten was a length and a half winner from Evita Argentina (Candy Ride) in second and Nan (High Yield) in third.
She is out of the Unbridled's Song mare Alpha Mama, a sister to Marylebone, winner of the Grade 1 Belmont Matron Stakes, and a half-sister to Unigold, who finished second in the Predominate Stakes.
Tale Of The Cat stands at Coolmore's Ashfird Stud in Kentucky. His fee for this year is $30,000, a reduction of $7,500 on his 2008 fee.
He is the sire of 53 stakes winners worldwide, and his best progeny include Group/Grade 1 winners Lion Heart, Tale Of Ekati and Glamour Puss.
