Shadwell filly picks up first black-type

SHADWELL STUD's homebred filly Almass picked up her first black-type at Cork on Saturday when successful in the Navigation Stakes.

And it was success all round for Shadwell as the filly's sire is Elnadim, Shadwell's homebred stallion who stands at Derrinstown Stud in Ireland. He has had a fine year through 2008 courtesy of progeny such as Wi Dud, Plum Pudding, Al Wasi and Sirenia Stakes-Gr3 winner Elnawin.

Almass's dam Harmless Albatross has produced nine winners from 11 runners including five who won and placed  at Listed level. Her best performer to date however is Volochine who twice finished third at Group 1 level - in the Prix de Salamandre and the Rothermans International.

The second dam North Forland (Northfields) finished second in the Ribblesdale Stakes-Gr2 and produced Libertine, who finished third in the Poule d'Essai des Pouliche-Gr1. Libertine's own daughter Amandine is grand-dam of Infamous Angel, winner of this year's Lowther Stakes-Gr2.
