Allybar upsets Crowded House at Meydan

ALLYBAR, last year's €370,000 Arqana Arc sale-topper, provided Godolphin with a treble on the night when holding hot-favourite Crowded House in the Group3 Al Maktoum Challenge.

The victory provided Ahmed Ajtebi with another high-profile Meydan winner, following his victory in the UAE 1,000 Guineas last week.

Allybar made rapid headway from the rear turning for homeand managed to get first run on Jamie Spencer aboard 13-8 favourite Crowded House. Although the second hit top gear close home, he just failed reel in the 10-1 winner.

The son of King's Best was bredin France  by Wertheimer et Frere for whom he won last year's Listed Prix Francois Mathet at Saint-Cloud.

He is one of four winners out of Irika, a winning Irish River half-sister to Group 2 winner Athyka, herself the dam of Grade 1-winning miler Atticus.

The immediate generations of this family also contains Group 1 winner Dubai Surprise, who was one of two horses from the first crop of King's Best to score at the top level.
