Gladiatorus and Pounced retired to stud in Italy

DUAL Group 1 winner Gladiatorus has retired to Societa Allevamento Besnate in Italy.

The five-year-old son of Silic was sold by Razza Dell’Olmo to Godolphin after a fruitful juvenile campaign of six wins from nine starts ended with a second to Scintillo in the Gran Criterium in Milan.

He missed his three-year-old year, but at four won his first three starts, the third of which was in the Dubai Duty Free worth the equivalent of over £2 million.

Gladiatorus also raced in Britain, France and the US, and netted his second Group 1 in the Premio Vittorio di Capua in Milan on his penultimate start.

He joins another new stallion acquisition in Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf winner Pounced, formerly trained by John Gosden.

The son of Rahy won twice at two and was also second to Siyouni
in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere.
