All lots sold at Magic Millions racehorse sale
STAKES peformer Irel topped the Magic Millions Racehorse Sale at the Gold Coast on Tuesday, in a session that achieved the rare feat of every lot being marked down as sold.
Irel was sold from the unreserved dispersal of horses owned by Lloyd Williams to Victoria-based trainer Eric Musgrove for $170,000. "I've been watching him closely since the Williams' bought him from New Zealand and he's been a very consistent performer," Musgrove told racingandsports.com.au.
"He ran well in a stakes race the other day and he looks a good staying prospect. He might not be up to top Group One level like the Williams' want but he is a very handy stayer and down the track he could make a nice jumper."
From 71 lots catalogued, all 55 offered sold for turnover of A$1,375,500 at an average of A$25,009 and median of A$16,000.
The sixth session of the 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling sale will be held on Wednesday.
