Alhaarth fillymakes all to land Pontefract feature

SILVESTRE de Sousa made all on the Marco Botti-trained Law Of The Range to land the Listed Pipalong Stakes at Pontefract on Tuesday at the expense of Fontley.

Purchased for a relatively inexpensive 21,000gns by owner Chris McHale at the 2008 Tattersalls October Sale, Law Of The Range becomes the 22nd stakes winner by veteran Derrinstown Stud resident Alhaarth. Her victory continued the productive run enjoyed by the son of Unfuwain, who has also been represented inrecent days by narrow Group 3 Prix Daphnis runner-up Valiyr.

Bred by the Brookside Breeders Club, Law Of The Range is a half-sister to the Grade 2-placed High Court Drama (by Theatrical). The pair are the best of six foals of racing age out of Mountain Law, an unraced Mountain Cat half-sister to Group 3 winners With Reason (by Unfuwain's half-brother Nashwan).

Mountain Law has a yearling filly by Tiger Hill.
