Lion Na Bearnai's victory in Monday's Irish National not only brought his small-scale trainer Tom Gibney, whose string numbers just five horses, into the spotlight, but he is also by the short-lived and little-known stallion New Frontier.

A son of Sadler's Wells from the family of Topsider, New Frontier won the Group 3 Prix de Conde over 1m1f at two and the Prix Berteux over 1m7f Prix Berteux at three for Andre Fabre.

In 2000 he was retired to Tullaghansleek Stud in County Westmeath, but died aged only ten four years later.

Lion Na Bearnai was bred by Frank Daly out of the placed Pollerton mare Polly Plum. He is his dam's only winner.

Accordion, an unraced son of Sadler's Wells, died aged 21 at Ballycrystal Stud in 2007. He sired veteran Group 1 winner Yavana's Pace on the Flat but is better known for his top jumps progeny such as Albertas Run, Dato Star and Flagship Uberalles.

Grade 1-winning chaser Harbour Pilot from the family of Grand National hero Monty's Pass.
