Lassie wins Debutante for freshman Flashy Bull

SATURDAY'S Grade 3 Debutante Stakes at Churchill Downs - America's first Graded race for juvenile fillies of theyear - was won by a daughter of freshman sire Flashy Bull.

Flashy Lassie flew at the finish to beat Five Star Momma, a daughter of Five Star Day, in the dying strides of the 6f contest.

Flashy Lassie, an all-the-way winner of a maiden claimer at Churchill Downs on her previous start, is trained by Gary Simms. She was bred in Kentucky out of the Lemon Drop Kid mare Lemon Pop Lassie.

She was purchased for $4,000 at last year's Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall 2010 yearling sale.

Grade 1 Stephen Foster Handicap winner Flashy Bull, a son of Holy Bull, stands at Airdrie Stud in Kentucky at a fee of $6,000.

The Blood-horse has recorded him as having produced three winners from five runners to date.
