Adena stallion Harlem Rocker to miss season

GRADE 1-placed Harlem Rocker is expected to miss the 2012 breeding season due to surgery to alleviate symptoms of spinal cord compression.

The son of Macho Uno, who stands in New York at McMahon Thoroughbreds of Saratoga under the Adena Springs banner, covered 21 mares during his first season in 2011 at a fee of $3,500.

After recovering from surgery, which is scheduled for Thursday at Cornell University, Harlem Rocker will recuperate at Adena Springs in Kentucky, where he will be under the care of resident veterinarian Dr. Tom Little.

Harlem Rocker enjoyed his finest moment on the track when successful in the 2008 Grade 3 Withers Stakes. He was also second to Tale Of Ekati in the Grade 1 Cigar Mile Handicap.
