Ace Shamardal filly Faint Perfume retired

DUAL Australian Group 1 winner Faint Perfume has been retired after failing to recapture her three-year-old form.

The Bart Cummings stable advised Racing Victoria stewards that the 2009 VRC Oaks and 2010 Vinery Stud Stakes winner would not race again.

The four-year-old daughter of Shamardal had been one of two nominations from the Cummings stable for Saturday week's
$1 million Australian Cup at Flemington.

The legendary trainer, who boasts more Australian Cups than Melbourne Cups in his trophy cabinet, will now rely upon Precedence to deliver his 14th Cup next week.

A valuable broodmare prospect, Faint Perfume won five of her 19 starts and A $1,456,290 (£906,140, €1,055,670) in prize-money.

She also won the Group 2 2009 Wakeful Stakes (2000m) and 2010 Kewney Stakes.

She finished third in the 2009 Group 1 Thousand Guineas and was runner-up in the 2010 AJC Oaks.
