Shadwell bred Eldaafer lands Marathon prize

ELDAAFER, a horse bred by Hamdan al-Maktoum's Shadwell Stud, gave sire AP Indy a second Breeders' Cup winner when landing the 14-furlong Marathon.

Eldaafer ran four times for Shadwell in the care of Kiaran McLaughlin before being secured for $20,000 in a claimer.

He is out of the Tabasco Cat mare Habibti, who was a dual Grade 1 winner as a juvenile. The family is pure American, with fourth dam Quillopoly ancestress of the likes of Sky Classic and SmartStrike among others.
AP Indy's previous Breeders' Cup winner came with Tempera in the 2001 Juvenile Fillies.
