TAKE Control, the first foal out of US Horse of the Year Azeri who was bought back for a record $7.7m as a yearling, will make his debut for trainer Bob Baffert in the third race at Santa Anita today.

The son of A P Indy was retained by the Allen Paulson Living Trust at the 2008 Keeneland September Sale but was sold seven months later by the trust to Kaleem Shah for a sale-topping $1.9m at the Keeneland April Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale.

Martin Garcia will take the ride on the colt, who is priced at 4-1 on the morning line.

Her yearling daughter by Giant's Causeway realised $800,000 at the Keeneland September Sale while her 2009 filly by Ghostzapper is slated to sell at next month's Keeneland January Sale.
