A$37k Last Love leads Millions mares finale

MAIDEN mare Last Lovetopped day three of the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale at the Gold Coast in Australia on Tuesday.

Consigned by Peachester Lodge, the four year-old was knocked down for A$37,000 (£24,000, €27,500) to BoomerBloodstock.

Last Love (by Iglesia) is a half sister to four winners including Brief Embrace (Irgun). A high-class juvenile, Bried Embrace won three stakes races and was second in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes to Bel Esprit.

Over A$470,000 changed hands on 150 lots during the general session at an average price of A$3,165.

"It was nice to see strong interest from international buyers from the Philippines, Thailand, Korea, Hong Kong and New Zealand," Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox said.

"An increased average on last year's corresponding session is encouraging as was the clearance rate of over 79 per cent."

The first of three National Yearling Sale sessions starts on Sunday.
