€80,000 Ebazan leads the way at Goffs

THE Aga Khan draft is providing many of the day's highlights and none more so than the useful three-year-old Ebazan (Lot 53) who was bought by Gerry Hogan for €80,000 after he saw off the attentions of Peter Molony.

The John Oxx inmate won a Curragh maiden last month and, on his last start, he chased home the exciting Declaration Of War. He will now join Conor O'Dwyer for leading owner Barry Connell.

Oliver Brady has enjoyed notable success with his Aga Kan purchases and he went to €40,000 for the talented four-year-old Zafarqand (Lot 52) who was defeated by Olympiad in a useful maiden at Gowran on his debut in April. Brady was acting for his chief patron Rita Shah.

Michael Halford consigned last year's top lot and his Copper Beech Stables offered the Sheikh Mohammed-owned Free Spin who won a Dundalk maiden last month and was placed in a well contested handicap there last Friday. The Iffraaj colt (Lot 63) cost David Barron €65,000 after he saw off the attentions of Jim Ryan.

Although he missed out on Free Spin Jim Ryan had earlier secured another Darley offering in the experienced David Marnane inmate who finished just behind Free Spin at Dundalk last week. The useful and experienced maiden cost €34,000 and he will continue his career in Singapore.
